·         Potential energy is stored

·         Kinetic is motion

·         1 Cal = 1 kcal = 1000 cal

·         Typical energy daily requirement: Female 2200 and Male 3000 energy in kcal

·         The Celsius degree is almost twice the size of the Fahrenheit degree; 1 C = 1.8 F

o   F to C: TF = 1.8 (TC) + 32

o   C to F: TC = TF-32/1.8

·         To calculate Kelvin, add 273 to the Celsius temperature

·          Specific heat is the amount of heat needed to raise the temperature of 1g of a substance by 1C

·         Heat of fusion is the amount of heat needed to separate the particles of a solid
