Yes Don Mattrick, there is a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity-- it's called PlayStation 4.

I for one will NOT be purchasing an xbox one. No backwards compatibility, the fact you're going to have to pay extra for another family member's account is ridiculous. No more renting games and... just the list goes on. RIP xbox one. You're already dead for many of us before you have even launched.

I have been an Xbox supporter since it came out in 2001 - had Xbox & 360, this will be the year I go to playstation. Their is to much BS around this...

PS4's 8GB GDDR5 is worth over 3,000$ per-unit alone, and I don't see how you're getting better value. As a gaming machine it's weaker than PS4 and all you're really getting is Kinect 2... No thanks, I'd rather go 100$ cheaper for the better... More - Nick • Report Abuse
im with meditech theres still plenty of life left in my 360 so i wont be buying next gen for at least a year maybe two and if nothing changes with the xbox one...... ps4 you got new customer....

Value for the money is a matter of opinion. Back in the old days the snake oil salesman claimed it was a cure-all and a great "value" for the money. We all know now that snake oil is worthless.

Sony kills them at E3 and in the general public for many reasons. Then, Microsoft tries to defend this price?? 499$. A better deal? LOL. It constantly needs internet, you pay more for less, it isn't backwards compatible, and may not allow used games, while the PS4 doesn't need internet, is 100$... More

It's a sales ploy. they will drop the price $100 right before it is released. Then everyone will think they are saving a $100 and go out and by the xbox instead...watch.

For me it's not the price, it the fact that for it to work you HAVE to be connected to the internet. Microsoft telling people what they want.. GM did that with thier cars a while back, look where it got them.

Just 2 cents here, as I am not a console gamer but it strikes me as odd that there is such an uproar over this price when I see so many people with $600 phones that require $100 / month data plans to use. Perhaps Microsoft should let people pay for these things through the Live account so that... More

"Thousands of dollars of value?" Now they're being outright delusional. Mattrick has just got to shut up. He's quickly becoming the Joe Biden of the game industry.

Must be connected to MS Servers to play? Big Brother Microsoft rears it's ugly head.

Get rid of all the used games restrictions and internet requirements and other #$%$. Then, I will gladly pay $500.00 for it. The price is not worth the loss of freedom. You can usually get any given new system cheaper after about a year to a year and half anyway.
Reply - Matt • Report Abuse
I have not found an xbox gamer yet that has said they will buy the new system.

It's not good to be on the defensive BEFORE the product launches. Even Nintendo had good hype leading up to launch.

Sorry, Microsoft. I'm switching over to PS4. After your three rings of death debacle, I almost defected, but you had Halo. Now 343 f'd up that game, Xbox one way too expensive and I have to be connected at all time? Nope. You know what happens sometimes? Xbox live goes down and I can't sign in. So... More

IF it was backwards compatible and didn't require a constant internet connection and allowed for free used game play then it may be worth the price.

The PS3's price was a completely different issue. The added price was because they kept ADDING things to the system. First gen bluray player, in-house developed processor, and at the time the emotion engine chip for PS2 BC. Of course it was gonna be expensive, and people understandably were slow to... More

Interesting.. Sony built a product for people with no connectivity as well. I think they highlighted it at E3, and priced it at $399. What did they call it again...

Switching back to Play Station immediately. Microsoft is screwing up...REAL BAD. Thousands of dollars in value? Similar to how they charge you for playing a friends game?

This is the exact reason I didn't buy SimCity for PC. I can still use almost all the features of my cell phone, even if I don't have a sim chip inserted and paid service turned on. No, Sony was E3's big winner, because they said they will place no restrictions on used / borrowed games. That, and the system doesn't require a spy camera to be turned on in order to use the system like with the xbox. I love my 360, but the xbox one will never see the inside of my house.
